El pasado perfecto continuo

(Past perfect continuous)

Introducción

Se usa el pasado perfecto continuo para hablar de una acción continua en el pasado que comenzó y continuó hasta que se produjo una acción pasada posterior.

Por ejemplo:

had been running  for six hours by the time  I arrived at the finish line.
esto ocurrió primero esto sucedió después
... or:

By the time  I arrived  at the finish line,  I had been running for six hours.
esto sucedió después esto ocurrió primero

The bus was late. I had been waiting for 30 minutes when it finally arrived.

Forma

Para formar el pasado perfecto continuo se usa:
had / "hadn't been" + "ing" forma del verbo principal.

Por ejemplo:

He / She / It
We
They
had
(or: I'd / She'd / They'd, etc)
been lying in the sun for hours.
hadn't (had not)

Had I
You
He / She / It
We
They
been lying in the sun for hours?
