Introducere

Folosim mai mult ca perfectul continuu pentru a vorbi despre o acțiune continuă din trecut care a început și continuă până începe o altă acțiune din trecut.

De exemplu:

I	had been running	for six hours by the time	I arrived	at the finish line.
	s-a întâmplat mai întâi		s-a întâmplat apoi

... or:

By the time	I arrived	at the finish line,	I had been running	for six hours.
	s-a întâmplat apoi		s-a întâmplat mai întâi

The bus was late. I had been waiting for 30 minutes when it finally arrived.

Cum se formează

Pentru a forma mai mult ca perfectul continuu folosim:
had / "hadn't been" + verbul principal cu terminația "ing".

De exemplu:

I You He / She / It We They	had (or: I'd / She'd / They'd, etc)	been	lying	in the sun for hours.
	hadn't (had not)
