Relativpronomen – eine Einführung

who, which, that

Relativsätze sagen uns, über welche Person oder Sache jemand spricht, oder sie geben uns weitere Informationen über die Person oder Sache.

Wir verwenden „who", „which" und „that" als Relativpronomen, um:
Beispiel

  1. The man is an English teacher. He lives in London.
     
Im zweiten Beispiel leitet „who" den Relativsatz ein. Der Relativsatz muss ein Subjekt haben, damit „who" das „He“ ersetzt, da wir „He" oder „The man" nicht wiederholen können.

Der Relativsatz erzählt dem Zuhörer, über welchen Mann der Sprecher redet.
