Pronumele relative - introducere

who, which, that

Propozițiile relative ne arată despre cine sau despre ce vorbește cineva sau ne oferă mai multe informații despre acea persoană sau despre acel obiect.

Folosim "who", "which" și "that" ca pronume relative pentru a:

• substitui subiectul
• introduce o propoziție relativă
• conecta propoziții separate într-o singură frază.

Exemplu

1. The man is an English teacher. He lives in London.

În cel de-al doilea exemplu, "who" introduce propoziția relativă. Propoziția relativă trebuie să aibă un subiect, astfel "who" înlocuiește "He" pentru a nu repeta "He" sau "The man".

Propoziția relativă informează ascultătorul cu privire la care bărbat se referă vorbitorul.

Folosim

• "who" pentru persoane
• "which" pentru obiecte
• "that" atât pentru persoane cât și pentru obiecte.
